Personal Party Boost Spell (Spell Saturday #23)

Ever have some sort of event you need to go to but you’re not exactly thrilled about going there? Whether it’s your least favorite cousin’s wedding or an out of town conference, sometimes you need to help boost your own personal enjoyment of event.

This spell’s purpose is to invite good, enjoyable things to happen to you personally. What happens specifically, isn’t detailed in the spell so be prepared. Maybe you’ll find someone to chat about a new book with, make a new friend, or hook up with someone amazing. You may find a great little coffee place to escape to or have someone say something that gives you a revelation. There’s a lot of room for possibility with this spell.

However, it’s a tricky spell that requires some forethought. There’s some specific conditions that need to be met in order to get the spell to work properly and mismanagement will break the spell entirely.

Time limit

The spell’s length is designed to last from the time you arrive at the event to the time you leave. If you’re in the habit of thinking that the trip to the event is part of the event itself, then you can extend the time until you leave and come back to your house. You can leave your house and come back multiple times if you need to pop in to grab something but you shouldn’t rest at your home as it’ll break the spell. Note I say “rest” and not “sleep”. Collapsing into you bed in exhaustion and then scurrying out the door again doesn’t count in this case. Essentially, the spell operates on the same atmosphere created by the event. So if you go home and veg out for a few hours in front of the TV to catch a break, you’ll interrupt the atmosphere of the event and thus the spell. If you’re relaxing at a hotel or out with friends, it doesn’t count, even if those specific things aren’t related entirely to the event itself.

Atmosphere

Another thing about this spell is that it largely feeds on the high emotions that surrounds major events. Even the most somber events will have a lot of emotions running. That’s the aforementioned atmosphere and that’s why the spell ends when the event ends. It runs out of juice, so to speak. The kind of emotions and energy isn’t important to the spell – it’s about the amount of energy and emotions. So the more chaotic and hectic the event is, the better the spell will work.

Repeated castings

While this spell can be cast multiple times (such as in the event of the spell breaking) it tends to muddle the event with fragmented spells and knots of energy. That might not make sense if you’re not sensitive to energy itself but, simply put, it leaves a residue that clutters up the space, magically speaking. The energy can be removed via cleansing or untangling but that’s an extra step and you may not have access to all the areas affected. So it’s best to cast this once and be done with it.

Spell combination clashing

Combinations with this spell can be tricky. If you don’t watch the wording and purposes of the spells, they can clash in a rather spectacular fashion. That might be entertaining if you have nothing to be concerned about but magically priming an event so it falls to pieces when something goes wrong (and something always goes wrong) isn’t exactly a nice thing to do.

Make sure to watch what kind of spells you combine. Glamours work very well with this spell so you can use them freely. Beauty and confidence spells work beautifully with this spell. Protection spells, such as guarantees overall safety or anti-fire spells, tend to be OK. Clashes begin to occur when you focus on details like spells to boost overall happiness. Even anti-anxiety spells tend to get clash.

A good rule of thumb is remember that the spell works on the atmosphere of the event so if your spell effects the atmosphere, such as a boost to happiness or a general “this event will not make me anxious”, it will disrupt and clash with this spell.

That isn’t to say you should avoid all other spells. A piece of enchanted jewelry will reduce clashing because it’s a contained item spell. Sigils are hit and miss – sometimes they’ll clash and cause this spell to fail and sometimes they won’t.

I’ve specifically tested this with anti-anxiety spells. I think the clashing with the anti-anxiety and this spell comes from a the general blanket calm that comes with the anti-anxiety spells. If you have something very specific, such as a trigger or  squick, you can probably cast an anti-anxiety spell against that specific thing and be OK (unless, of course, the event is about that thing such as going to a baby shower when you have tokophobia.) Outside of that, items such as the previously mentioned enchanted jewelry might be a better way to go.

Blanket spell only

A blanket spell is a spell you cast without tying it to an object or yourself. Like pulling a blanket over a bed, the spell is cast over the entire space, event, or time. Blanket spells fade away over time. Most spells you run into are blanket spells.

Don’t use this spell on the event badge, if your event uses one. Event badges are great for dropping multiple spells on, especially if you don’t want to go through the trouble of enchanting jewelry or clothing but this spell doesn’t work well when tied to an object. It’s like the spell’s always primed to go and only works in bursts. Better to cast this spell as a blanket spell rather than tie it to an object.

Doesn’t effect the event itself

This spell is purposely designed so it doesn’t effect the event itself. You’re not casting it to make sure your party or wedding is a sure success. You’re casting it to make sure that you have a good time at the event.

I discovered that casting spells to boost happiness on objects, such as an arch of balloons or something, rather than a blanket spell doesn’t clash with this spell and still allows an overall effect to the event.

It’s a fussy spell, perhaps, but it can be great when you know that you’re going to need some personal entertainment at a boring event.

You’ll need:

  • An invitation to the event. Even printing out a calendar with the event on it will work.
  • Drawing powder or sugar
  • A good mood
  • A small mirror or reflective surface
  • All of the shoes you’ll be wearing

Get yourself into a good or at least ambivalent mood. You should be in a good enough mood so you don’t think less than friendly things about the event. You might not be happy about going to this event so make sure that you’re in a mood where your feelings about the event are at least neutral.

Place the invitation against the back of the mirror, so the writing or picture would be facing you if the mirror wasn’t in the way.

Sprinkle the drawing powder over your reflection in the mirror, smile and think of good, happy things when doing this. You don’t have to think of anything specific. Even remembering the cuteness of a puppy works. You just need to be truly content and happy for that moment.

Now put the mirror down and look at the invitation and say,

Joy comes to my side

Happiness is my companion

Luck heralds my coming

[Event name]

I join you

And bring my own sunshine

Now sprinkle some of the drawing powder inside your shoes (even flip flops or sandals) and you’re good to go!

Tips:

  • Drawing powder is often simply just powdered sugar. My own secret recipe is a bit different but essentially, it’s a powder that’s entirely purpose is to draw stuff to you.
  • You do not have to keep the drawing powder in the shoes. I typically sprinkle the powder inside the shoes then wipe the shoes clean with a paper towel a little while later. You can do it immediately or wait until you’re ready to go. It’s up to you.
  • If you want to make sure that you have certain things happen, then you’ll need to collect a pile of “good things”. For example, if you want to find a good book, have good food, or a good place to sleep, you’ll need representations of those things from your own home. So buy a cupcake, grab your favorite pillow, and snag a good book to use as representations. If you’re aiming for friendship or love, you’ll want an object that makes you think of friends or love such as rose petals or pulling up your text messages on your cellphone. Pass the invitation over the pile of good things and sprinkle with drawing sugar. This should be done before you do the mirror step.
  • I always, always bring a travel grimoire with me when traveling or attend these kinds of events. The travel grimoire can vary in size but it will have “emergency spells” such as anti-anxiety, healing, protection, etc. It’ll have information and references I might want to have (names of spirits to summon or color combinations, what-have you), and lists of 10 common herbs to use for specific purposes. This means that this little book gives me exactly what I need for reference no matter where I am. The spells are all designed to work without much set up, if any, so they can be cast on the go. Bonus tip: Even the most staunch anti-technology practitioners would benefit from keeping a short file on their cellphones for these kinds of events.
  • Ask another practitioner if they can see any conflicts with the spells you want to use. They might not use the same kind of paradigm or magic but they can still offer a different perspective.
  • Divination is completely unaffected by this spell.
  • Enchanted jewelry and clothing are witchy-essentials for events as far as I’m concerned. Enchanting stuff allows you to run spells without worrying overmuch about clashing and, more importantly, since it’s a completed spell, it doesn’t drain you. Plus you can set up the spells in advance which is huge when there’s a million things to do.
  • For goodness’ sake, enchant your suitcases and important items like cellphone and jewelry with anti-theft, return/find me!, and “notice me!” spells. It’ll help keep your cellphone in hand, your jewelry in your possession, and your suitcase from disappearing when encountering the void known as airports.

Happy casting!

Charm for Victory [Spell Saturday #20]

Sometimes you just need to win. Whether you’re at a sporting event or a court case or it’s just trivia night at the local bar or a big exam is coming up, victory is sometimes necessary. This will help.

You’ll need:

  • Bay laurel
  • Ginger
  • Chamomile
  • Protea
  • Oak leaves
  • Betony
  • Cinquefoil (Five Finger Grass)
  • Clover
  • Sturdy Green or gold bag

Collect your herbal ingredients and grind them into a powder. As you grind them, put a lot of energy and effort into it, more so then usual. Work up a sweat. When you’re happy with it, place all of the ingredients inside a sturdy green or gold bag. Carry with you when you need victory.

Notes:

  • The easiest material to make the bag out of it felt. Leather, wool, canvas, or dense cotton also works.

Happy casting!

Silence That Tongue (Spell Saturday #12)

Has someone gotten into the habit of running their mouth? Is everything out of their mouth repulsive? And you can’t get away. You just sit there, angry and frustrated, and can’t leave without them turning it around on you.

Silence their tongues.

This is an easy enchantment that you can do just about anywhere, even in front of your target. Be sure to check the notes for suggestions.

What you’ll need:

  • Their drinking glass, eating utensil, plate, or bowl. A toothbrush may also work. Food or drink may also be an excellent option.
  • Your anger and hatred
  • A picture of them or your target themselves
  1. Select your vessel to enchant. It must be something they will put in or to their mouth.
  2. Get your picture or be within sight of your target.
  3. Look straight at your target while holding the vessel or hold the vessel over a picture of them. Make an X with your finger on the vessel’s surface. While doing this, pour in your anger and frustration. Optionally, you may wish to mutter or say in your head something like this: “Your tongue wags too much. It grows thick and leaden and silence fills where your voice would have been.”
  4. Now give or leave the vessel to your target to use. Anytime the spell needs a boost, look at them and make an X in the air with a finger or foot.

Notes:

Selecting your vessel will depend on your target and what you can get your hands on that they will also be assuredly putting to their mouth.

  • A drinking glass would be very easy but a fork, spoon, or knife is also optional.
  • A bowl or plate may be trickier because there’s little guarantee their mouths will make direct contact and instead the spell would have to pass from the plate/bowl to the eating utensil and then mouth.
  • A toothbrush is a fine choice as well and has a bonus of being taken with them. This also means that the spell can be done quickly when taking a moment in the bathroom.
  • Food and drink will also be a truly excellent choice (and would allow for herbal additions) but be wary of food/drink being ignore, shared, or enchanting more than your target. Plus, allergies are a thing you need to keep in mind.

Happy casting! Be safe this holiday season!

Item Summoning (Spell Saturday #11) (tumblr repost)

This is a general summoning spell I wrote about, oh, fifteen years ago. I wrote it down on notebook paper at school, used it a few times, then forgot about it when transferring spells over to my then-new grimoire. Due to this ask, I searched about and found it again.

It’s a great little spell that can be used anything from summoning a lost item to bringing a new item towards you.

Item Summoning by This Crooked Crown

Think of the exact item you want. For example, if you want a book, remember the author’s name, the book title, and the cover art. Now say the following while throwing out energy and magic into the world.

“I summon you [item]

Come to my side

Over distances far and wide,

find me and become mine.”

Pull the energy towards you, like dragging the item into your arms.

That’s it! It’s really simple and yet works super well, as Hellboundwitch can attest.

Enjoy your holidays and happy casting!

Happy Home Jar Spell (Spell Saturday #10)

With the winter holidays fast approaching, we’re pushed to have a lot of holiday cheer. For some people, that’s very easy and for others, the winter holidays are nightmarish. I wrote this spell to help out everyone in those situations.

arsp 01

The purpose of this spell is to bring happiness and joy into the household. Ideally, people won’t get up in arms about life choices made and old arguments. and maybe wounds may begin to heal.

What you need:

  • Jar or bottle of plastic or glass. Size, shape, and color up to you.
  • Water, pot to boil water in, and salt
  • Herbs or flora: Basil, blue hydrangea, sea holly (erynogo), lavender, angelica root, chamomile, bay laurel, flax seed, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, ginger, motherwort, garlic, citrus zest (orange, lemon, lime, etc peels), vervain, vanilla, vetiver, yarrow, or rosemary.
  • Sugar: golden sugar preferred but brown sugar or just regular white cane sugar, or sugar alternatives will certainly do.
  • Other: myrrh, dragon’s blood, benzoin, regular table salt, sea salt, pink salt, cascarilla (powdered eggshell), citrine, amethyst, chrysoprase, pink or blue tourmaline, turquoise, rose quartz, aquamarine, chalcedony, malachite, sodalite, or calcite.
  • Personal items from each target person or pet: hair, nails, etc. Alternatively, you can have a list of names instead. Dirt, ashes, or rocks from the family home or fireplace can also be used.

Note: You don’t have to have everything on the list above. Just pick out what you have or want to add in. Family items such as dirt from the family home might not be useful if you live in an apartment building or move a lot and personal items of the family could be omitted if you want a more general happy home spell.

arsp 03

  1. Select a jar or bottle. Ideally, the bottle should be glass but plastic will work as well. The size, color, and shape it up to you but consider any traveling the bottle might do or where it’s going to sit. Small plastic bottles would be useful if you travel for the holidays but a larger more decorative jar can be put out on the counter during cooking to keep things copacetic.
  2. Wash the jar in boiling hot salt water. This can be done by getting pot larger than your jar and filling it with water and adding a few pinches of salt in. Make sure the salt dissolves and put the jar in before letting the water boil. Once the water boils, turn off the water and let it cool before removing it from the water. If you’re worried about the jar melting, just wash it in very hot salt water.
  3. Let the jar cool and dry completely before attempting to use. Now would be a good time to consider painting or otherwise decorating the jar or jar lid if applicable.
  4. Now layer in the heavier items like salt, resin pieces, ashes, dirt, or even the stones. Personal items should be also mixed in here but shouldn’t be seen through the glass or plastic so put down a layer of something else first and keep those personal items towards the middle. When you add them say “This is the foundation of my family, strong. We are unified.
  5. Next add in the botanical materials. You can mix this however you want. When you add them in say “This brings peace to our home. We are happy and unified.
  6. Now add a thin layer of sugar to the top. You can put your stones or other items on top as decoration, if you like. When you set up this layer say “This brings us kindness. We are happy and joyful.”
  7. Now seal the jar up. You can do this with tape, paint, glue, or wax. Blue’s a good chosen color. However, you can simply just cork or screw the jar shut if that’s easier for you. Hold the jar in your hands and imagine or say aloud how you want the home to be like. People enjoying each other’s company, sharing a meal, going home safely, no arguments or crying, etc. Dream of the perfect family environment. Push your energy into the jar as you do this.
  8. You can now set the jar somewhere where it can be seen in a busy place in your household (a high shelf or tucked into a corner on the counter will work nicely. Or you can carry the jar as needed. Shake or add more energy to give the spell a boost as needed.

arsp 04

Tips:

  • This jar spells can be very easily adapted for your personal usage and can even be made travel size. All that you need to do is to select a jar or bottle that suits your needs and go from there.
  • If you’re using a jar that has labels on it, the boiling water trick will remove it. If the adhesive is still on, rubbing it with some baking soda will take it off. If you do this however, boil it a second time in clean salt water.
  • If you can’t avoid the personal items being seen in the jar, don’t worry about it too much. It’s more for decorative purposes and peace of mind than anything else. The spell won’t suffer from it.
  • Normally jar spells have wet items it in. I skipped this because I wanted the jar to be decorative for a long time. If you want to add liquids, I recommend the following: honey, sugar water, sunflower oil, Four Thieves Vinegar, or even salt water.
  • This is a long-term spell so it can sit out or be added to as needed. If the spell seems to be fading, you can swap out the ingredients for fresh material, give the jar a little shake, or push more energy and magic into the jar.
  • In order to get rid of the spell, pour out the ingredients into a dug hold on your family’s yard or garden. Alternatively, you can bury it at a park or even toss it in the trash.

That’s it! Happy casting!

The Sand Trap (Spell Saturday #9)

Welcome to Spell Saturday #9!

This time I’m taking a spell from Scott Cunningham’s Earth, Air, Fire, & Water. People are very opinionated on Cunningham’s work. I find that so long as you remember that Cunningham was writing for an audience that was, at the time, conflating Wicca and witchcraft and that the material is largely 20+ years old, you’re just find. I do have issues with some of his herbalism and general statements but honestly, you’re going to find issues with anything if you look hard enough.

“The Sand Trap” is a lengthy ritual starting on page 46 and continuing to page 48 of Earth, Air, Fire, & Water. I’m going to paraphrase some due to lengthiness and unnecessary wordiness.

The Sand Trap

This [is] a simple ritual designed to “trap” negative energies before they enter your home.

  • Small glass jar, cleaned and dried. Must be glass for this spell. (1)
  • Equal quantities of two different colors of sand (2) (Enough to fill half the jar of each if possible)
  • Spoon (3)
  • Two small bowls to hold sand (4)

Visualize the sand “protective, projective energy.” and “emitting sparks of bright white light that ensnares negativity and draw it inward.” (5)

Now pour a spoonful or the first sand into the jar saying this:

Trap of sand

Trap the ill.

Trap the bane and

Evil will.

Now pour a spoonful of the second color/type of sand in saying the above charm again. Keep laying the sand in alternative bands until you’re out of sand or the jar’s filled.

Once filled, visualize the sand protecting you once again and say the above charm  once more. And you’re done.

Crown’s note:

(1) I find jam jars are great for this but so are small canning jars. Due to the nature of the spell, this is the kind of thing you don’t have to bury in the yard so it’s excellent for apartment and dorm dwellers to keep in a window. It also serves as decoration so it’s literally perfect for stealth protection for those in the woods (6).

(1) Colored sand would be really good for this. You can buy some at craft stores or even aquarium stores. Cunningham says for them to not be artificially colored but I don’t see why that should be? Cunningham does come from a crowd where artificial=bad to some extent and I can’t see a reason why colored sand wouldn’t work so I say use what appeals to you. Picking colored sand can also help add color association to the spell. You can also use as many types or colors of sand as you want or have. I’m not really seeing an explicit reason why two types of sand are necessary here.

(3) The spoons here I think make the process longer. I’d just pour the sand at will and eyeball the amounts. If you want even amounts of sand for aesthetic or whatever purposes, a spoon or scoop probably would be easier. It would take longer though.

(4) I’m not sure I understand the point of the bowls here. I’d just use whatever you’re using to hold the sand originally if that’s easier for you.

(5) There is a very wordy description on how charging the sand and enchanting it in the book. Use whatever method works for you here. You don’t need to do exactly what he describes. Honestly, use whatever visualization or wording you need to use to get the sane to absorb negativity coming your way.

(4) “in/out of the woods” is a term put forward by a member of the witchcraft community on tumblr. It’s intended to take the place of “in/out of the broom closet” which may be offensive to other members of minority groups. Plus, it’s absolutely adorable.

Happy casting!

How to Make Your Home More Inviting For Spirits

A lot of people work hard to make their home nice, safe, and spirit-free. Others prefer a little incorporeal company.

Spirit shenanigans aren’t uncommon in my household. Just earlier today I watched an indoor wind chime twist around, jangle loudly, and physical move for half a minute. the wind chime closer to the window and less than a foot away from the moving wind chime didn’t move a bit. I happen to be across the room at the time putting up my hair, standing next to my sleeping cat. Nothing I could see moved or touched it. It’s weird. I’m not saying it was a spirit but I’m not ruling it out either, you know? These kinds of events are pretty common in my household. In fact, you’ll probably run into a spirit just as often as you’d run into a visiting friend around here.

So how can you invite spirits around your own home?

First you need to consider your location. I live between two crossroads, at the top of a hill, down the street of a swamp, less than a mile from the ocean and a river, and behind a funeral home (in fact, my street’s technically part of a corpse road). My house is naturally attractive to spirits because of this. In fact, when we moved in, we had to kick spirits out because they weren’t willing to share. We get a lot of water and murky spirits here due to our location and a lot human dead. 90% of our visitors are transient and we never see them again. This is linked to our location. If you live on a street with a lot of flourishing gardens you’re more likely to run across fae than water spirits. If you live by the sea you’re going to see a lot more water spirits than anything else.

Trying to cater to your local spirits may be a good idea: take fallen branches from the yard and fashion them into an offering – hang it on the wall or leave it by an offering space if that’s what you’re doing. Otherwise, I just make wind chimes out of the fallen branches and leave them in the yard. I also tend to leave out animal-safe food offering such as sugar-free bread and purified water.

Next you need to decide what spirits best suit you. Our most prominent spirits, outside of the human dead, are goblins. They’re mischievous and tend to break shit for the fun of it. Most folks don’t invite them into their homes because they cause more trouble than anything else. I find them funny and honest, in a way. They’re intentions are typically selfish and I get that. We also like the transient spirits that come and go as that also suits our family’s personality. We’re something like a roadside inn. You don’t need to know what spirit you want in the home but what temperament is best. It’s not unlike trying to find a new housemate except that the questions revolve less around “do you smoke?” and more of “do you break shit just for the giggles?”

Once you decide what kind of spirits you’re looking at, do research. If you’re looking for a specific spirit, leave out offerings they would like. If you’re looking for just more spirits in general, read up on people’s accounts of living with spirits. It’s not always what it’s cracked up to be and you may find yourself wishing otherwise. (For example, when we first moved in here there was a spirit that would watch me shower and another that lived under the stairs and would turn the light on and off at will, even if no one used the stairs that day. Or, a few Christmases ago the spirit that set off the fire alarms four times, including at five a.m. That particular spirit refused to stop until it was given an offering. I threw it’s ass to the curb.)

This is also a good time to start catering your protection wards and spells to your new purpose. If you want to let in fae, then you’re going to have to make sure that your protection doesn’t hurt them or kick them out.

Before you do any serious inviting, be sure you can kick out whatever you’re inviting in. Sometimes, spirits just become assholes. Pick out a good binding and/or banishing spell ahead of time and be sure to have cleansing materials on hand.

Set ground rules. I have a few rules that each spirit is told upon entering the house. Generally, they seem to know ahead of time so maybe other spirits tell them but sometimes I need to make it a point. My rules are for them to stay out of the bedrooms, generally speaking, especially when we sleep and the bathrooms when they’re in use. Another is to leave the cats alone. The third is to not manipulate electronics (in case they break something) and the fourth is for them to leave my mother alone. Be firm with these rules and don’t be afraid to break out the cleansing and banishing materials if the rules are broken. They need to know that you’re serious and not playing around. I’ve even had spirits banished and come back at a later day, promising not to do whatever they did wrong previously again.

Offerings are nice but not always necessary. In fact, you may wish to make sure they aren’t a daily thing. This is where research comes in handy. A brownie may demand a gift every day in exchange for keeping the house running smoothly and a spirit guardian spirit may require one on specific occasions. Generally speaking it’s not good to spoil them too much. If you give offerings to the neighborhood spirits every week for two months, they’re going to be pissed when you don’t do it in that third month – and they may take it out on you. Re-negotiations may need to take place to remedy that situation. It’s better to not get into that sort of situation to begin with. I give offerings on specific days or events – Thanksgiving they get turkey soup, New Year’s Eve they get wine. If I spend the day baking, I give a bit of whatever to them. Outside of that, it’s sporadic and that works best for me and them. I have a few spots in the yard I leave offerings but I’ve recently installed a little house-shaped shadowbox for permanent offerings  by a window and I have a dish I leave by my coffee maker for the household spirits like brownies.

Most spirits like shiny things, so leaving a small selection of shiny objects like coins, rough crystals, bits of broken chains, etc may attract spirits. Avoid warding measures like knives, scissors, and nails in windowsills unless you want that room to be banned for them.

Make a formal offer. This may be as simple as trancing or meditating in your room and telling them to enter, taking a walk in a park, or puttering about the yard. I tend to step into the middle of our largest crossroad and make the offer. This usually ends up being “hey, if you want to swing in and say hi, go for it” and that’s about as formal as I get.

Having a space for household spirits is somewhat ideal. This may be the hall closet or, in my case, the boiler room. A lesser used room is typically ideal, although they may take up residence in the basement, ceilings, attics, and floor. A friend of mine had a spirit take residence in their unused chimney and I have several spirit houses dedicated for this exact purpose. This isn’t necessary however and in fact may be preferred that they’re more nomadic in the space.

It takes time, so keep that in mind. Spirits have their own minds, agendas, cultures, personalities, and backgrounds. It may take a while for certain spirits to warm up to you. You might need to readjust and reassess if things aren’t going the way you want them to. You can call up or summon spirits to speed up the process but you’ll want to be sure they’re the kind of spirit you want to hang around.

Keep records. I say this often about a lot of things but I recommend keeping a record of weird happenings if you’re attempting to attract spirits. This way you can track patterns that might be spirits communicating. If you have a busy household, it can even be fun for kids and guests to write down what they’re experiencing in a book.

I think that’s a good place to start. Generally, give it time and be friendly!

How to Make a Poppet

Now, I’m going to be upfront:

  • This post was written during the process of making a poppet for cursing. While this post can be used for ANY poppet for ANY purpose.
  • Is image heavy; many of the photos are shaky. This is common when I photograph my spell work. I don’t know why but I have my suspicions.
  • Features photographs of charged ingredients, sigils, and spells.
  • Talks about curses
  • Features a mini how-to break glass safely.
  • This is an attempt to be traditionally neutral. I do things different than others and thus my own methods bleed through. Remember to work within and adapt to your own cultural background, paradigm, and practice.
  • Trigger warnings: blood, glass, curses, Gov. Rick Perry, poppets, sigils, spells, energy, charged items, etc. I’m sure there are others I’m missing but there you go.

This is a follow along using simple ingredients. It starts with how to make the poppet, talks about filling it, making the face and personalizing it, and then finishing it up. Away we go.
