Cash & Fortune Money Spell (Spell Saturday #36)

This spell is based off one of my personal money spells. It works well and has a tendency to work fast. Be sure to read the notes before beginning.

cfms

What you’ll need:

  • Mint (any kind)
  • Sea salt
  • Clover
  • Nutmeg
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar
  • Coffee
  • A lock of your hair (or appropriate sacrifice)
  • Candle (any color)

Gather your herbs and ingredients except the sacrifice and candle. Lightly powder them and put them nearby. Light the candle and say,

With this candle

My magic will find a way

To bring money to my side

And keep my debt away

With these herbs I plant

The seeds for which my fortune will grow

Together to me cast will flow.

Sprinkle some of the herbs over and onto the candle. Pick up your sacrifice and hold it over the herbs.

With this sacrifice, I power my spell

Bring to me what I am owed

Bring to me coin and cash

So my wealth may last.

Split the sacrifice and put a little on top of the candle and the rest with the herbs. If that’s not possible, put your sacrifice with the herbs. Go to your exterior door and bury it at the base. If that’s not possible, plant it in a pot, at your place of employment, or on your property somewhere.

Notes:

  • You can use any seven ingredients you’d like to bring money to you.
  • Your sacrifice doesn’t need to be your hair. What’s key here is that it’s a personal sacrifice – a piece of you. A fingernail, hair, or blood are usually easiest but be safe in acquiring your sacrifice.

Happy casting!

A Cleansing Ritual For House & Home (Spell Saturday #35)

When it comes to cleansing I’m more of a low-key kind of practitioner. I’ll enchant my cleaning supplies to cleanse and go clean the house. But sometimes, you just need a ritual to get it done.

cleansingritual

The problem comes with many cleansing rituals using smudge sticks. The issue with smudge sticks is this: burning plants tied together in a bundle is seen in a variety of places in the world. That being said when someone says the words “smudge stick” an image of white ceremonial sage, maybe an abalone shell, and Native Americans are conjured. The thing is, that specific ritual does belong to the Native American peoples. And that term is ubiquitous with that image.

So. While you can use herb bundles for your cleansing and incense, you shouldn’t adopt that ritual. It belongs to a closed culture. It’s cultural appropriation to use it when you’re not part of that culture. Additionally, and really this is an aside, white ceremonial sage (salvia apiana) is considered an at-risk plant. Meaning that it’s over-harvested and care should be taken to preserve the species.

This ritual avoids all of that and still gets your home cleansed.

What you’ll need:

  • Candles for each room you’re cleansing. (See notes)
  • White taper candle
  • Dust from each of the rooms you’re cleansing (see notes)
  • Sacred or holy water or cleansing wash water
  • Anointing oil for blessings or cleansing (optional)
  • Cleansing herbs (optional)

Bath your white taper candle in sacred or holy water. Or you can use water enchanted with cleansing properties. Dry the candle thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel. Let sit out for a full day in the bright sunlight and again a full night under the bright moonlight.

Rub the anointing oil over the candle. If you don’t have an oil you’d like to use, you can skip this step.

Roll the candle in cleansing herbs. If you’re not using an anointing oil, you can slightly melt the sides of the candle with a lighter or flame and roll the softened candle in cleansing herbs. If you’re using a votive, you can just sprinkle the herbs on top instead.

Now let the candle rest for a full day of sun again. Once more let it rest for a full night under bright moonlight.

Lay out a candle in each of the rooms and spaces you’re cleansing. You can leave the candles there until they collect dust or you can sprinkle a pinch of dust onto the candle from the room.

Now it’s time to cast the spell. Open your front door and step outside. When you’re ready to being, light the taper candle and step through the front door, holding the candle in front of you. Go to each room candle and working in a circle as much as possible and light each room candle with the taper candle. Allow the white wax of the taper to drip onto the room’s candle. One drop is enough but you can do more if you like.

Do this for each and every room candle. Once you get back to the front door, blow out the white taper and carry it through the house in the same route you used to light the candles and gently blow out the room candles.

Pay attention to any candles that went out on their own. That room might need extra cleansing.

When all the candles are out, break the white taper in half. Collect the other candles and throw them all out. Then take the trash outside. You don’t want to leave the candles inside the house at the end of the spell.

acrfhh

Notes:

  • Tealights work perfectly for this spell for the room candles. I highly recommend a taper for the lighting candle as they’re easier to drip.
  • Be sure to include spaces in your candle count that aren’t exactly rooms. So you might need a candle for your living room, bathroom, bedroom, hallway, and attic or basement. If you used your porch, patio, or outside space often, make sure to light a candle for that too.
  • The room candles can be any color you want. The idea is that you’re putting the cleansing candle (the white taper) over the room candle. It has more of a visual impact if the candle’s a different color.
  • This spell is especially good if you burn candles in those rooms for decorative purposes. If one of those candles are almost done, use that in this spell instead of a tealight. (Example, I might burn a cinnamon candle in my kitchen to make it smell good and use that candle to represent the kitchen in this spell)
  • If you grow plants in specific rooms, you can use a crumbled leaf or petal from those plants instead of dust. Similarly, if you keep charm bags of herbs in those rooms for protective purposes, you can use a pinch of those herbs powdered in the candle instead of dust.
  • This doesn’t have to be done during the full moon. It just has to be a clear night where the moon is very visible.

Happy casting!

How to Write A Money Candle Spell

Money spells, in my opinion, are the best spells for beginners. Why? Because you’re going to notice if you suddenly have more money, aren’t you? And they can be as easy or as complex of a spell as you’d like.

htwams

Here’s a step-by-step guide for you to follow.

  1. Determine how much money you’ll need and why (although the why isn’t actually necessary). If you’re not fond of speaking out loud while doing spells or you feel like this would be more effective, write down the amount of money you need and why. Be specific. Pro tip: Start small. Need ten bucks? Ask for ten bucks. Need three thousand? Maybe it’s best to break it up into smaller amounts.
  2. Get yourself a candle. Any color will do but white, gold, silver, green, or whatever color your money is will do. A votive is probably the best and most common size but I actually recommend a little tea light. They’re cheaper and much faster to burn out.
  3. Get a magnet. Don’t look at me like that. You can buy packets of magnets in craft stores or craft departments of department stores or you can just select your least favorite magnet off the fridge and cut a bit of it off and use that. You place this in the hollowed out bottom of a candle or under the candle in the candle holder you intend to use.
  4. Get some herbs or ingredients. Never fear! You almost certainly have at least one of these on hand or can easily “borrow” some from the nearest coffee shop. These herbs should be luck drawing, money drawing, and prosperity drawing. Here’s my list of money drawing herbs and ingredients. You’ll need to at least have the herbs kind of finely chopped or powdered if you’re working with a small candle. Any non-herb ingredients can be placed in the hollowed bottom of a candle or under the candle on a candle plate. Your candle should be ready to go now.
  5. Light your candle and visualize. Some folks don’t do this but if you do, visualize you getting the money and spending it as you need it.
  6. (Optional) Chant a money spell. This chant can be anything you want from “bring me money, bring me X amount, bring me money, bring me X amount now.” to “Money comes but it does not go, bring the money, let it grow”. Or whatever you like. You can just say “I want X money”. Or nothing at all.
  7. Burn your things. While chanting (if that’s something you’re doing) burn the paper with the amount of money and purpose of money on it (if that’s something you’re doing), sprinkle the herbs into the lit candle slowly. When you feel done, then you’re done.
  8. Let the candle burn out. Keep whatever’s left of the candle somewhere until the spell’s been fulfilled. Congratulations!

cmsi

How to hollow out a candle: You can do this by flipping the candle over, and twisting a hole into the wax with a knife.

How to dress a candle: Rub the candle in money drawing oil then roll it in herbs. You can chant over the candle if you want and infuse it with your energy.

That’s it! It really is that easy. It’ll take some practice but once you get going you can create all sorts of new spells with this as a base. Have fun and happy casting!

A Spell For Courage & Wonders (Spell Saturday #33)

I was recently rereading The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland On A Ship Of Her Own Making* by Catherynne M. Valente. Besides adoring A-through-L, I remembered how lovely the story is. If you haven’t read it, you might want to as it tells a pretty fantastic fairy tale. It’s especially beautifully if you pair it with S.J.Tucker’s album Wonders* which you can buy or listen to, for free over on her bandcamp site*. Tucker often writes songs about Valente’s work and Valente’s all for it. I adore when artists do collaborations like this, don’t you?

All of that being said, you don’t need to know the story at all to cast this spell! This spell is give you courage and create new experiences for you. It’s best used when you’re about to embark on an adventure like going off to college, starting a new job, or traveling.

WARNING: This spell involves blood.

Make sure to read the spell the whole way through, especially the notes. This isn’t a tricky spell so much as an exacting or intricately subtle spell.

asfcaw

What you’ll need:

  • Your blood
  • A portable light
  • Your shoes
  • Your name

Flip your shoes over so you see the soles of your shoes. When you’re ready and have the blood available, turn on your light source and put it in front of you but within arms reach.

Press the blood to the sole of the shoe and say,

“By my blood and name

I am not afraid

By my blood and name

I am ready

By my blood and name

I am brave, strong, and true

By my blood and name

I will have wonders too

What’s before me may be hard and I may have to fight

But I am ready

What’s before me will bring wonder and joy

By my blood and name.”

Turn off the portable light with a deliberate move. Let the blood dry on the shoes and treat your wound.

Candle Smoke

Notes:

  • If you do not have a safe method of getting blood, please either wait until you’re bleeding from something such as a cut to cast this spell or skip it entirely. Your blood is essential to this spell so don’t use an alternative. It’s all or nothing, as I’ve written it. Just please be safe!
  • Portable lights can be anything from a flashlight, flashlight app on your phone, lantern, candle, LED light. It just needs to be something that stays light and is portable.
  • The shoes should, ideally, be the ones you’ll wear for the specific circumstances you’re casting like for (like a job or vacation). If you’re not going somewhere new, just pick the pair of shoes you wear the most. If you’re fast, you may be able to get more than one pair of shoes.
  • It’s probably a good idea to wash the shoes before you cast this spell, if possible. Or at least wash the soles.
  • Your True Name is your full, complete name. This could be the name you’re known by legally or it may be your magical name. It’s a name you call yourself in your head. The one that fits your soul.

Happy casting!

Spirit Summoning Spell (Spell Saturday #30)

There’s lots and lots of ways to summon spirits. This one is for communication rather than working with a spirit in spells.

sss

You’ll need:

  • Frankincense incense
  • Myrrh incense
  • Sandalwood incense
  • Basil
  • Parsley
  • Lavender
  • Rose petals
  • Wine or clear alcohol
  • Sage
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Salt or sea salt
  • Holy water, sacred water, or purified water
  • 2 Charcoal tablets
  • 3 Fire-safe dishes or bowls for burning incense
  • Divination tools or communication methods
  • Chocolate (optional)
  • Tobacco (optional)

Before you begin, boil sage, rosemary, salt, thyme, and salt in some of the water for 15 or so minutes. You don’t need much but enough to cleanse the space afterwards. Leave some of the herbs and water for the ritual.

An hour or so before midnight, set the ritual space. Make sure that you have somewhere comfortable to see and work. Don’t cramp your space if possible. Prepare yourself with whatever ritual methods you use – cleansing, purification, creating a magical circle, ritual robes, entheogens, whatever. Make sure to prepare both incense bowls with herbs before you start. One should have basil, parsley, lavender, and rose petals. The other should have sage, rosemary, and thyme in it. Pour the holy water in a fire-safe bowl and keep within reach.

Lay out your offerings. You can add other offerings if you’re summoning someone specifically but you’ll want to start with what’s listened. Place your basil, parsley, lavender, and rose petals in an offering dish or dishes. Add in the tobacco and chocolate if you have it. Pour out the wine or clear alcohol and put it in the offering area.

Light your incense and say the following,

“Spirits, I offer you sustenance in exchange for communion until the midnight hour.

If you bring me and mine no ill will,

Come to me and speak

And I will listen.”

You can use a meditation or a trance to listen for the spirits to speak. Or you can use technology. Or you can use your divination tool. You can use automatic writing, scrying, pendulum, or tarot. Anything, really.

After midnight, thank the spirits that appeared and dunk any remaining incense in the prepared holy water to smother it. Light the second bowl of incense and cleanse the room with the herb infused holy water. When the second incense bowl is burned up (or you’re sick of standing around), dump that in with the rest of the incense and throw it all away or bury it in your yard.

Dispose of the offerings by burying them if possible. If not, leave out until morning and throw away in the garbage.

Notes:

  • Put the cleansing and spirit banishing water in a spray bottle. The misting will cleanse the room without leaving water everywhere.
  • While tobacco is a traditional offering, chocolate isn’t in many places. Chocolate might not be appropriate for your summoning and I’d only use tobacco for spirits from a certain era or people I know who smoked.
  • You can buy incense to summon spirits or cleanse rooms in exchange for the herbs here.
  • You could also sprinkle the herbs in white candles and burn those instead of creating incense. Pick unscented candles or candles of frankincense, myrrh, or sandalwood. It can be mixed scented like vanilla-sandalwood.

Happy casting!

Begin Again [Spell Saturday #28]

Sometimes, we just need to hit the refresh button on our lives. This spell won’t do precisely that but it’s pretty close. It’ll help you make a fresh, new start.

stba

What you’ll need:

  • Flower, flowering plant, or petals from a flower
  • Water
  • Piece of quartz crystal
  • Candle

First, make sure you’ve cleansed your home, car, work, and self. For this, perhaps a light personal cleansing followed by cleansing whatever spaces and stuff you need to cleanse, followed by a deeper cleansing might be ideal. This spell should be done immediately after your self cleansing.

Light the candle and put the flower, candle, and water in front of you.

Hold the quartz crystal in your hand and just sit with it, meshing your energy with yours. If you’re into programming stones, you’ll want to program it to hold the energy you’re about to give it. (More on programming stones in the notes.)

When you’re comfortable and ready, say the following,

“I am beginning again.”

Blow your breath across the quartz.

“I breathe newness, energy, and light.”

Pass the quartz through or over the fire.

“I have fire, passion, and glory at my side.”

Touch the quartz to the petals of the flower.

“I am blooming, growing, achieving. I am beautiful even in the worst storms.”

Dunk the quartz in the water and pull it back out.

“I have healed, I have surpassed, I will never be broken.”

Now hold the quartz to your heart and say,

“I have begun again and will live my life as I wish, happy, and free.”

Carry the stone with you and/or keep it by your bedside. Hold it when things get rough or you’re beginning to fall into old habits.

Notes:

  • You can use any candle color here. I prefer white but yellow, red, or blue might be appropriate too.
  • Any flowering plant will work, especially if they’re your favorite flower. Roses are a good choice.
  • I like to use purified water for this spell.
  • This might be a great choice for a spell to cast on a quartz crystal piece of jewelry.
  • If you’re into programming your crystals, your crystal should be programmed to give you energy, light, and remind you of the spell you’re casting. It should serve as a gentle reminder of the life you want to live and the promise you’ve made to yourself to start again.

Happy casting!

Spell to Study Harder (Spell Saturday #25)

We all have times when our concentration splits or we simple do not want to put in the time needed for studying or work. It happens to all of us.

This spell encourages you to buckle down and concentrate on what needs to get done.

stsh

What you’ll need:

  • Scents that inspire or energize you (see below)
  • Yellow candle or LED light

Get a yellow candle or LED light. Ideally the scent should be something that isn’t comforting. It should be something invigorating. For me, that’s usually a spicy or citrus scents but it’s up to you. If you can’t find a yellow candle that has the right scent or you’re using an LED light, you’ll want to pick up either incense or aromatherapy oils that’ll work for you.

Holding the candle or LED light in your hand, close your eyes and take deep, even breaths. Empty your mind and push away any intrusive thoughts. Once you’re as calm as possible and have your mind as blank as possible, say the following,

With this light

I inspire my mind

With this light

My intelligence shines

With this light

My focus narrows

With this light

I will strive

Keep the candle or LED light on or near your desk so it’s in your peripheral vision while you work.

Every time you light the candle or turn on the LED light, you should find that you’re ready to work harder. If the candle or LED burns out, simply repeat the spell on the replacement candle or light.

Notes:

  • As mentioned above, I prefer spicy or bright scents for this spell. Citrus often works very well. But some people prefer the smell of mowed grass and meadow flowers or other scents given their personal preferences or personal associations. It’s entirely up to you.
  • You can use a white candle or LED light in a pinch but it does work better with the yellow color I’ve found.
  • You can skip the scents, if you like, but the spell works better with it.
  • I highly recommend combining this with some white noise. I use mynoise.net daily and rotate out my sound schemes based on my mood, the weather, and what I want to accomplish.

Happy casting!

Be Brave (Spell Saturday #24)

Sometimes, you just need to be brave. Gathering your courage to go and do A Thing can be hard. (Although, it’s usually gathering motivation that’s harder but shh).

Here’s a spell for when you need to stop being a wimp and Do The Thing.

Take a deep breath. Hold your hands about a foot apart from one another in front of you and say,

“Fire around me, burning bright, passionate and true,

Water beside me, flowing free, understanding and calm,

Earth under me, steadying strong, patient and grounding

Air above me, pushing past, darting and knowing”

Now imagine the energies of all four elements to be in between your hands. If you’re god an energy manipulation, you can pull energy from the elements around you.

Take a deep breath once again. Condense the energy and move your hands closer together. Press your hands and energy into your chest. Say,

“Become with me

Grant me your courage and strength

To get me through this day.”

Now breathe out and go about your day.

Note:

  • Doing this in front of a mirror sometimes helps.
  • Doing this in front of an altar can be helpful but it isn’t required. There’s usually enough elements in the area that you don’t need to.
  • Bathrooms are great places to cast this spell. There’s water and fire (lights or electricity or even candles) on hand. Kitchens are also good places.
  • You can adapt the spell to your elemental system

Happy casting!

Fire Guardian (Spell Saturday #21)

This is one method of creating a magical guardian construct from fire. This is a permanent spell with a secondary activation for the construct summoning. Essentially, you can the spell now and you’ll cast a second spell to summon them to your side.

A magical construct is a somewhat sentient being created through your magic and energy. You forge it, pouring your energy into a clear image in your mind, creating it from yourself. You can read more about magical constructs and servitors here.

You can use this for any kind of fire construct but we’re aiming for a guardian and protection construct here.

You’ll need:

  • Fire
  • A comfortable place to sit

Ahead of time, you’ll want to think of what kind of guardian you want. Do you want a lion made of lion that will guard you and keep you warm at night? A fire wolf? A phoenix? Even a simple ball of fire works well. Use your imagination or look up pictures online for inspiration. Even if you’re unsure of what you want them to appear like, that’s OK. You can still cast the spell. Be sure to read the whole spell through. There’s more questions you’ll need to answer during the spell.

Get yourself a fire. A fire pit or fire place is a great option but a large candle will work just as well. Sit somewhere comfortable  with the fire within reach. You should be close enough to feel the heat but not so close you’ll burn yourself.

Now stare at the fire until you focus only on that. Let your mind go blank and only start at the fire. Now, with the fire solely in your mind and burned (metaphorically) in your vision, close your eyes.

Very clearly think of the physical form you want the construct to take. If you haven’t decided, then let some images come to you. Push your energy out to the fire (not the candle or wood the fire is on but the fire itself) and pull the fire’s energy towards you. Use that fire, in your mind, to make the construct.

If you’re not much for envisioning, you can speak out loud what you want your guardian to look like. Tell the fire to come to you and try to push towards the fire without moving.

spells and herbs

Once you have the construct’s image very clear in your mind and you’re happy with it’s appearance, now tell it what it’s job is. Tell the construct that it’s job is to protect you, to come when you call. Tell it to guard you home, to watch over you when you sleep, to keep you safe from spirits and other practitioners. You may want to tell it that it will serve only you or protect your loved ones. What you tell it is up to you. This is your formation process so be sure to tell it firmly, in detail, what you want of it.

Now tell it how it powers itself. Is the power derived from you? Does its power from from fire itself? This decision matters when considering the activation spell. If fire it the power source, the construct will be more self-aware and independent but will need fire to surge into being and be able to use it’s abilities. If it’s derived from you, you’ll have more control but you’ll be exhausted after summoning them. You can do a mesh of both, if you like. The construct lives in fire though so don’t be surprised if they appear at random when working with fire.

Be sure to include the activation spell. The secondary spell should be something that you create yourself. Maybe you need to light a candle or flick on a lighter to give the entity power to manifest. A couplet is usually easier and more on the go but probably will only be useful if you’re construct derives power from you. A combination is also possible. It’s up to you to decide. Make sure that the activation spell is something that you can remember. A couplet like “[Name], being forged of fire, come to my side and protect me” is a good basic couplet.

Now that you’ve told the construct it’s job, how it feeds itself (powers itself), and how you’ll summon it, you’ll need to give it a name. This is something that’s private, personal, between the two of you. I give my constructs two names – their true one which only I know of and a nickname which I use when speaking to them around others. Their true name is the one to focus on. You can use their true name to force them to do something, which is especially useful to avoid rampancy or them attacking the wrong people.

That’s it! You’ve created a fire guardian. I highly recommend you write down or drawn you fire guardian so you can always refer to the impressions and images you have of them. Constructs are largely mutable, especially when they don’t have a physical host like the fire guardian, so don’t be surprised if they appear somewhat different every time you summon them.

Alternative version:

This spell can also be used, with slight variations as a spirit guide meeting spell. A spirit guide has many definitions but, largely, is a spirit who want to help you in some capacity, whether to offer advice, hope, or education. A spirit guide is a useful spirit friend to have.

If you’re looking to meet a spirit guide, think or say clearly “I want to meet a spirit of fire willing to help and guide me”. Repeat this every few minutes until you get an impression or sense that someone else is with you. In all likelihoods, this is a spirit of fire willing to help you. Ask it questions and see if you can strike up a partnership.

Notes:

  • This spell is slightly dangerous. Not just because of the magical construct and spirit contact but because of the proximity of the fire. Be safe and give this a miss if you’re unsure you can pull it off. Don’t hurt yourself.
  • Use fire-safety. Keep fire-killing items around you during this spell in case things go wild.
  • Do NOT do this spell when you’re tired. Do it only when you’re awake and have a lot of energy. You don’t want to fall asleep with the fire going.

Happy casting!

Fiery Fertility Ritual [Spell Saturday #19]

A fertility ritual for a romantic night of fun, happy sex. This ritual is intended for adults only, could take several hours, and has the purpose of impregnation.

This ritual is NOT intended to replace medical procedures and should only be performed with your partner’s permission, consent, and enthusiasm.

You’ll need:

  • A fire
  • Red wine or beverage enjoyed by all parties
  • Fruits, fruit, nuts, and fresh cheese.
  • With a consenting partner, set up a little date night in. Craft your fire out of fruit-bearing wood, like apple wood.

Before a fire, set up your ritual area. Ideally, this should be a place where sex will be comfortable for everyone. This is a spell of partnership so all participants should be involved in the crafting of this area. The food should be placed in a communal and easily reached place but not in between the lovers. You should pour your partner(s) drinks for them – don’t pour for yourself – and likewise, they should pour for you.

You and your partner(s) should take your drinks in hand, take a sip, raise the glass, and say:

“Together, we’ll craft a fire between us,

Passion that will not be diminished soon,

Happiness will follow us, flow around us, and into us

It is life, we create here tonight

And now we’ll begin.”

Then proceed into whatever romantic or sexy plans you have in mind.

Later, when everyone has been made satisfied and you’re ready to clean up, collect the ashes from the fire (or wax from the candle, or what-have-you) and put it in a little pouch and stick this under your bed(s). Any uneaten food or drink can be saved for later but only the people who were involved in the spell should eat it. If you don’t or can’t save the food/drink, bury or pour it in a garden. If that’s not possible (due to expense, not safe for the environment, whatever) then wrap the food in a paper towel before throwing away in the garbage.

Note:

  • The fire can be a bon fire, a fire pit, or even in the fireplace. If none of these are available or you’re not using firewood to create your fire, a scented candle will work suitably as well. Recommended scents would be fruits, vanilla, chocolate, or florals. Make sure the scent is pleasing to both partners. You can mix it up with some coffee or forest scents too, if necessary. Want to double up on the spell? Write the verbal verse on paper and put it in the fire.
  • While this spell is simple, there are a lot of additions that could be added. The beverages and food can be enchanted, for example.
  • You don’t need to speak in harmony together. You can just repeat the lines to one another.
  • This spell is designed for fertility but isn’t required. You can easily use the spell to encourage a happy relationship rather than conceiving a child.
  • Keep fire safety in mind!

Happy casting!
